Welcome to 5th Grade!

I'm excited to get to meet all of you this year. Highland may seem like a big step up from the comforts of BIS. Some of you may have a few butterflies about the upcoming school year, but rest assured that all of the fifth grade team will work together to make your first year at Highland a memorable one. We teachers know that this is a big change, so we're going to do whatever it takes to make this a smooth transition from BIS to Highland.

I am pleased to announce that you'll also be working with Mr. Merulli this year. He will teach ELA, which includes writing, reading, and English. Some of you may have had Mr. Merulli for third grade. In fifth grade, you will work with him for ELA and reading, and you'll work with me for math, science, and social studies. Mr. Merulli and I look forward to your arrival at Highland!

Supply List

Please look at the supply list below. While the cleaning supplies are requested as a donation, please consider purchasing the other suggestions if you are able to do so. This will make your child's organization easier as the year progresses.

Donations of Kleenex, Clorox wipes, or hand sanitizer are appreciated

Contact Information

I send out weekly email updates about upcoming projects, quizzes/tests, school events, etc. I will send home a brief information sheet during the first week of school. When completing that sheet, please be sure to include any email addresses that you may use. It is my goal to have at least one email contact for every student. Parents/guardians have found these emails to be extremely helpful, so please try to include that information. If you are a legal guardian and do not receive a weekly email and you would like to receive one, pleae contact me via email.

These are the daily schedules for Mr. Anderson's class. The schedules include regular school days, 2-hour delays, and activity schedules. Also included are the daily Specials rotations.
