Hello! I can hardly believe that our first nine weeks together have come to a close. We have been really busy working and getting to know each other. As we did during the first quarter, we will continue reading stories together from our Storytown anthology. We will continue working on comprehension skills which include theme and sequencing to name a couple. Also, our Book Clubs are off and running. Each student is reading a novel with me or Miss Squicquero and a small group of friends from their homeroom. We checked out the book choices at a book tasing in our library. It was a fun way to look at the different types of books that I have in my classrooom as well as our library.
Our ELA portion of classtime will consist of note-taking using an interactive notebook as we dig more deeply into the English language. We will continue to have Spelling in addition to learning about pronouns and antecedents, perfect verb tenses, adjectives and adverbs. All of the students are working to their fullest potential, and I know that they are becoming better readers every day!
