Welcome to Mrs. Borroni's page!

I am thrilled to be your child's second grade teacher.  I have been working on making our prehistroic room come alive.  Second grade is an awesome year for kids to build on the skills they have learned in kindergarten and first grade and become more independent.  I am looking forward to meeting all of the students at our orientation.

This year I am using a new program for parent communication.  It is a program called Class Messenger.  It is a program that will allow you to send quick messages to me via my cell phone and will allow me to send quick messages to you via phone or email.  Please see below.

Who is this Mrs. Borroni?
As the year begins, I am so curious about the students in my class.  You are probably just as curious about me.  Here are the answers to some questions that you may be wondering about:

1) How long have you worked at Blackhawk?
This will begin my 19th year teaching at Blackhawk.  All 19 of those years have been at Northwestern.  I have taught second grade for 14 years as well as Title 1 reading and kindergarten.  Last summer, I had a great opportunity to be the acting principal before Mrs. LeDonne came on board.  Second grade is my absolute favorite grade to teach.

2) Where did you go to school?
I grew up in Riverside and graduated from Geneva College in 1998.   I also have a Master's degree in reading from YSU and a principal certificate from California State University.

3) What do you do besides correct math fast facts?
I have a husband, two children and shih tzu that keep me busy.  When I am not teaching, I work as a taxi driver for my son and daughter.  They don't tip well. I also enjoy singing in my church choir, and I love, love, love going to the movies.

4) What is your favorite thing about Blackhawk?
I love getting to know my students AND their families.  It is a privilage to know so many people in this awesome community.  I wouldn't want to work anywhere else.

5) What should I know about you as a teacher?
I truly believe that parents and teachers are partners.  In order to make this upcoming year a success for your child, we have to work together.  My door is always open.  Feel free to call, email or text anytime.  YOU know your child best.  I am always willing to listen.  You will not offend me - I promise!
