Welcome to Mrs. Ford's page!


 

During the first quarter, we learned about the rules of school and how to choose Kindness. We  learned about apples, colors, and started spelling. We read stories from the reading series themes All About Me, Families, and Friends at School. We learned all five of our Daily 5 centers. We wrote in our journals while working to identify letters, sound out words, as well as writing our names. We are experts with the numbers 0 to 10 and are even able to compare them! We worked in math centers to further extend our understanding of math concepts. We participated in Art, Music, Gym, and STEAM class. We also go to the library with Mrs. Ford. 
 
During the second quarter, we learned about Halloween, the First Thanksgiving, and the holidays. We had our holiday concert at Blackhawk High School. We completed lessons from the reading series themes On the Farm and Whatever the Weather. We learned about the spelling word families am, ap, it, ig, and in. We completed Daily 5 centers and Guided Reading groups. We wrote in our journals creating our own stories using our word wall and word cards. We learned about numbers to 10, addition, and subtraction. We completed math centers. We also went to the computer lab and learned how to log-in to the machines and navigate to different educational games!
 
During the third quarter, we will learn about Martin Luther King Jr., Groundhog Day, the 100th Day of School, Valentine's Day, President's Day, Black History Month, Chinese New Year, and Dr. Seuss's Birthday which is also called Read Across America Day. We will read stories from the reading series themes Let's Play and In the Neighborhood. We will learn about spelling words from the op, og, et, en, and ug families. We will complete Daily 5 centers and Guided Reading groups. We will be writing in our journals to create our own stories using our own thoughts and ideas. We will learn about place value to 19, representing and counting beyond 20 and identify two-dimensional shapes. We will work in our BUILD centers. We will also continue to go to the computer lab and learn how to type our spelling words in Microsoft Word.
