Let the Magic Begin!

Let the Magic Begin!

Welcome to Second Grade!

"Anything's possible if you've got enough nerve."
      -J.K. Rowling
Second grade is a wonderful year full of lots of learning and lots of fun!
Second graders will be exposed to a rich learning environment in all subject areas.  In English Language Arts, students will develop, practice, and apply skills in the areas of decoding, fluency, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and spelling. Your child will begin to make the transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn". Students will also become stronger writers with a focus on personal narratives, informational pieces, and opinion writing.
Second grade mathematics concepts include addition and subtraction with regrouping, money, time, measurement, graphing, and geometry.  Students will practice math facts daily in order to reinforce automaticity, so that they can begin to develop higher order problem solving skills.
Throughout the school year, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please email me at or contact me on Class Dojo!

Class Dojo

Class Dojo Our classroom uses Class Dojo for behavior management. Parents will be able to track daily student behavior and progress, receive instant messages from me, and view classroom photos and updates. Please make sure you check your app regularly!
