Accelerated Reader
As I am sure you have heard, students are no longer required to "get those points' for AR. Students may still take AR tests if they like, but they will no longer be graded on their achievement of points.I encourage your child to still take the tests to check on their comprehension of the book.
Although AR is no longer graded, students are still required to read a chapter book/novel and read 15 minutes each night.
We are working to develop a way to assess their independent reading while still promoting the love of reading. To that end, students must be reading a story with rich characters and plot. They are always welcome and encouraged to read any book that interests them in their free time, but while at school they should have their novel with them.
