3rd Quarter Progress

During the third quarter, we learned about Martin Luther King Jr., Groundhog Day, the 100th Day of School, Valentine's Day, President's Day, Black History Month, Chinese New Year, Dr. Seuss's Birthday (Read Across America Day) and St. Patrick’s Day. In ELA, we read stories from the reading series themes Let's Play and In the Neighborhood. We learned spelling words from the op, og, et, en, and ug families. We completed Daily 5 centers and Guided Reading groups. We wrote in our journals to create our own stories using our own thoughts and ideas. In Math, we learned place value to 19, representing and counting beyond 20 and identifying two-dimensional shapes. We completed our BUILD centers (not as often as we had hoped, but we squeezed them in whenever possible). We continued our #choosekind initiative. We recognized our friends and had weekly discussions about begin kind in all different situations. While visiting the computer lab this year, we learned how to use Word, 3D Paint, and Google Chrome (using our class webpage).
