Roadmap: New Students / Enrollment

How do I enroll my new student for the 2020-21 school year?

Updated on May 17, 2020

Following PDE guidelines for school enrollment and CDC guidelines for safety and social distancing, Blackhawk School District will work with parents and sending school districts to ensure efficient admission of all incoming students.  Steps 1-4 below outline the enrollment process for the 2020-21 school year.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: In order to facilitate efficient enrollment of your student, please start the enrollment process as early as possible before the start of the 2020-21 school year. This will give Blackhawk School District adequate time to work with you and your former school district to receive all required documentation.

STEP 1.  Online New Student Enrollment

The use of SKYWARD New Student Online Enrollment (NSOE) will be used in all phases of re-opening.  Families NEW to the district will follow the process to request access to SKYWARD.  Families with current Blackhawk students will utilize their existing SKYWARD login credientials to submit their new student's application through the SKYWARD Family Access portal.

STEP 2.  Submitting Required Documentation

During the YELLOW PHASE of re-opening - Blackhawk school offices will remain CLOSED to the public.  Therefore, parents will be required to submit all necessary documentation via email or fax to the school their student will be enrolling.  After your application is submitted via SKYWARD, the school office secretary will contact you to begin the process of submitting your documentation.  If you have not heard from a Blackhawk representative, please call the appropriate school office.  School office contact information is below:

STEP 3.  Verifying Residency for Non-Standard Living Arrangements

Non-standard living arrangements include any situation where parents/guardians of the student to be enrolled in a Blackhawk school do not have proof of ownership or rental of an in-district address.  Examples include - parents/guardians living with a relative, a boy/girl friend or other non-related individual.

If the parent/guardian name is not on proof of residency documentation, you will be refered to the district office for completion of this step of registration.  For the 2020-21 school year registration, please start the registration process as soon as possible in these scenarios so office personnel can be sure to obtain the proper paperwork for non-delay of your student's admission to Blackhawk.

STEP 4.  Scheduling / Program Placement

Blackhawk office staff will work with your former school district to obtain your student's academic record to determine apporpriate placement of your student.  For the 2020-21 school year, please apply early so that office staff have necessary time to receive student files from your former school.  Blackhawk will accept files in electronic and fax in order to not delay enrollment.
