PRIDE

3rd and 4th Grade Life Skills Support- Mrs. Dianne Sarver

Special Olympics PA
Our 3rd and 4th Grade Life Skills Support Classroom, also known as the PRIDE Classroom,  is located at Blackhawk Intermediate School.  The goal of this program is to educate students in their neighborhood school.  I have been teaching in this role since 2011-12 school year.  Students in my classroom learn functional math and functional reading skills.  Each student is taught with their strengths in mind.  Throughout the year, our class takes the skills that they have learned in the classroom and we apply them out in the community. Community Based Instruction, CBI, is conducted once a month.  Check back frequently for updated pictures from the 2019-20 school year.

My class also participates in Beaver County Special Olympics.  We participate in Bowling in December, and Track and Field in May.  There are many other opportunities from Special Olympics PA throughout the year that I can post as they come up.

Another exciting opportunity my students have is to operate our classroom coffee shop, Cup of Joe.  Students learn valuable skills such as interpersonal skills, money counting, conversation, and
