Miss Uslenghi

Students having fun with Flat Miss Uslenghi

Welcome to Odyssey! April 20, 2020- May 1, 2020

Welcome to Odyssey!!

Welcome to Week 5 of Odyssey! You are all doing a great job! I hope to see some pictures with your Flat Miss Uslenghi this week! I have seen three students having a lot of fun with her so far!

You will do the same thing this week,  each day you’ll come to our website and view the assignments for the next two weeks.  The links might look the same from week to week, but the assignments will be different.

The Odyssey link is where you will do Math and Language Arts.  LA (language arts) is a combination of reading, spelling and grammar.  You will complete these lessons daily.  Some lessons will take more time than others.

If you finish early or want to keep learning, please click on the links that will be on the webpage each week for extra practice. Reading daily and practicing math skills will help get you ready for second grade!

Time Capsule!

Here's an optional activity that some of you may be interested in having your children complete. We are living history right now- it's not fun or anything to celebrate, but nonetheless, we will be talking about it for years. This will help to document your child's memory and how he/she is feeling during this time .

You will need to print this off if you choose to do it.

Learning at Home!

Welcome to room 104! I am Miss Uslenghi, and I am thrilled to be teaching first grade! I am very excited to be working with you and your child throughout this school year. The goals that I have for all of my students are to be happy, to feel successful, and for them to love learning new things. I am a Blackhawk alum, and I am elated to return to BSD to start my career in education. Go Cougars!

First grade is a very special year. Many students will begin to find a love for reading. We will learn to read independently by building phonemic awareness foundation, develop speaking and listening techniques, and develop an understanding of grammar to achieve our goals for language arts. In first grade, we will also develop many strategies to add and subtract, tell time to the half-hour, compose and identify 2D and 3D shapes, and use tables and charts to interpret data. There will be a variety of hands on activities to develop a deep understanding for math and science concepts.

I am looking forward to a FanCactus year! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns, [email protected]
I am looking forward to working with you!
