Welcome to Compass/Odyssey Cyber Program

May 25th-29th

Welcome to Week 6 of our online learning.

Click here to start the daily cyber program Compass/Odyssey:

Enter your child's AR log-in information.

Here is the tutorial if you need a review: https://safeyoutube.net/w/PSj6

The Compass/Odyssey link is where your child will do Math and Language Arts.  LA (language arts) is a combination of reading, spelling and grammar. The program will not advance to the next lesson until he/she has completed the whole lesson.
Your child's required assignments are in tiles that have circles around them.  The other tiles are extra areas that students can visit for enrichment.  The circle tiles will change to uncircled once your child has completed all assignments in Week 3 for that subject. When your child has completed the lesson, they must select DONE in the bottom right hand corner and EXIT on the left corner. Otherwise, they will not be able to move on.

Your child should be working for about 30 minutes in math and 30 minutes in language arts every day. Your child can stop at any point after that allotted time each day and the program will save your child's progress.  if he/she hits the exit button in the bottom left hand corner.

If your child finishes early with Odyssey he/she can do the enrichment links and keep learning, please also click on the optional links below that will be on this webpage each week for extra practice. Reading daily for 10 minutes and practicing math skills will help get you ready for second grade!  I recommend completing an AR test each week.

Writing: I encourage your child to utilize the Odyssey enrichment Informative Writing links this week.  It is the last tile on the screen under LA once the regular daily assignments are completed and the new tiles will appear for enrichment. If your child completes that topic he/she can do the opinion writing lessons for review.
The following tiles are inside the Informative Writing topic:
Instruction
Supported Practice
Independent Practice: You can write in your journal about an animal.  Write a topic sentence, 3 facts, and a closing sentence.
Quiz: Writing to Give Information

MATH: Choose any areas from this website to practice math skills.

ELA: Your child is encouraged to read books and take an AR test each week. I would recommend typing in the books title in AR to see if there is a test for it from EPIC, MyOn sites, or books from home.  Mrs. Borroni will be distributing reading prizes for AR points earned at the beginning of next year.  Students can read books on any level.

Good Morning Boys and Girls,
I am so excited it is Friday and you will be starting the new Cyber program on Monday called Compass Odyssey.  Please make sure you continue to open up this webpage each day until the end of the year for your assignments and links. It would be easier if you put the Compass Odyssey website as a bookmark on your device so that it's easier to sign in each day.  I will make a weekly post on Monday for the whole week for you to use at the top of my webpage. The Odyssey work is required for satisfactory completion for the 4th quarter.  If you decide to do more on the additional websites that are listed on my webpage each week that is optional and you will get an O for outstanding. I will be able to see your daily progress and how you are completing all of the assignments with our new program.  I am very proud of all of your hard work so far this year!

Mrs. Terry's Page

Welcome!

I am Mrs. Terry and I am very excited to be working with you and your child! My goal this year is to help you support your child as they learn throughout first grade. I have been teaching for 21 years and I love every single day spent teaching and learning with my students.

This year, you will see your child become more independent academically and socially. First grade is an exciting year for learning! Our focus for first grade is ELA, math, and we also integrate our science/social studies curriculums into daily instruction. In ELA, we develope our phonics skills, reading comprehension, fluency, writing, and speaking and listening skills. Our math maticians will learn about operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, measurement, data, telling time, and geometry.

I have included information and Internet links on this page for you to use when your helping your child. If you feel that he/she is struggling in any way, do not hesitate to contact me.
