Accelerated Reader Update
AR Update

Accelerated Reader underwent sweeping changes in the middle of December. We have been experiencing a fair number of issues with the program since the update. We are working with Renaissance Place regarding many issues but the most noticeable to parents is that the emails that were generated when your child took an AR test are no longer being sent. While this is unfortunate, Renaissance Place is working to fix this issue. At this time they have not been able to provide a timeline for that resolution.
If you would like to check the number of AR points your child has you may log in using this link:
On the  screen that asks for your Renaissance ID please enter BSD-15HF - You will then be promted to enter your child's log in information.
Third and Fourth grade student log in information can be found inside the cover of the student agenda book.
Please also note that AR runs best in Google Chrome or Firefox. If you are using another browser some of the features may not work properly.

Polar Plunge 2018
On January 27, 2018 the BIS Polar Plunge Team took the plunge into the chilly Beaver River.  Team members wore the quote, "Hold on to your GUTS!" in memory and honor of Ben Banks. We are proud of our teachers and staff that support our students both in and outside the classroom!

Honoring our Veterans

On Wednesday, November 8th, BIS was privileged to host over 40 veterans and guests for our first Veteran’s Breakfast.  Veterans were welcomed with a treat bag and flag pin.  Then, the wonderful cafeteria staff served a delicious breakfast buffet while the BHS Chamber Players entertained the room.  Next, the veterans were treated to a performance of the third grade patriotic concert. It was our great honor to recognize these brave men and women.

Thank You Veterans!

Statement Regarding Florida School Shooting
As we continue to learn more about the tragic school shooting in Florida, our hearts go out to the students, families, school staff, and community who have been impacted. In the wake of this tragedy, we want to reinforce that safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We will continue to reflect on our current crisis protocols to ensure that we have proactive plans in place at all times. One of the most imperative parts of a proactive crisis response plan is communication. We ask you to continue to keep open lines of communication with your children and for your children to be open with a trusted adult in the school setting if they have any concerns about safety. If any of our students need support or need to talk, please let us know. We will all hug our families close tonight while keeping the victims in Florida in our thoughts.
All schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, Feb 7.  Based on changing weather conditions in the AM there is a potential for school to be cancelled.   We encourage you to pay close attention to any changes in the status of school tomorrow morning.
