This number is for NON-EMERGENCY calls. If you have an emergency, call 911.
In an ongoing effort to promote a safe learning environment, the district is providing the community with an anonymous tip line phone number. The purpose of the tip line is to allow the community the ability to share information anonymously regarding issues that may put others’ safety in danger.  Community members can report information about drugs, weapons, alcohol, violence or any threat to safety.  While this can be done anonymously, the more information given (including one’s name), the greater the ability the district has to do a complete investigation and resolve the situation quickly.

Accelerated Reader Update
AR Update

Accelerated Reader underwent sweeping changes in the middle of December. We have been experiencing a fair number of issues with the program since the update. Currently the link below is working and when logged in there is an option in the upper right hand corner to subscribe to email notifications regarding tests your child has taken. At this time only one email address is allowed to be registered. We have asked for this to be expanded to two email addresses. The reports are now working on mobile devices!
If you would like to check the number of AR points your child has or to sign up for email notifications you may log in using this link:
You should be able to log in using your child's information.
Third and Fourth grade student log in information can be found inside the cover of the student agenda book.
Please also note that AR runs best in Google Chrome or Firefox. If you are using another browser some of the features may not work properly.

Honoring our Veterans

On Wednesday, November 8th, BIS was privileged to host over 40 veterans and guests for our first Veteran’s Breakfast.  Veterans were welcomed with a treat bag and flag pin.  Then, the wonderful cafeteria staff served a delicious breakfast buffet while the BHS Chamber Players entertained the room.  Next, the veterans were treated to a performance of the third grade patriotic concert. It was our great honor to recognize these brave men and women.

Thank You Veterans!

Cougar Pride Band goes to DISNEY WORLD!
The Blackhawk Cougar Pride Band traveled to Florida this past week, as is customary every three years. In addition to enjoying time in Walt Disney World and at Cocoa Beach, the band represented Blackhawk with pride on the world's stage as they marched through Epcot on Thursday morning. The guard was treated to an invigorating clinic for dance, flag, sabre, and rifle work that was topped with a special visit from Goofy! The instrumentalists attended the "You're Instrumental" Workshop, where they worked on their performance skills with Disney Clinician and famed composer/arranger Allen Gray. The band learned a little Disney magic, and recorded the soundtrack to Tarzan, synchronized with scenes from the movie, as well as "The Imperial March" from Star Wars with special voice over and sound effects by their directors. Can't wait to go again in the 2020/2021 school year!
